So, I have a confession....even as a "healthy" food blogger, I really like some garbage food....and my favorite is in the form of McDonalds. Cheeseburger or Chicken Nugget Happy Meals are totally my game, but I've been known to consume Big Macs, Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese, Egg McMuffins and oh....I do love me a McRiddle now and again, in spite of the awful stomach ache I always wind up with. Disgusting, I know....but luckily I can say I've always eaten these meals in moderation with no long term effects thus far. But now I live out in the middle of nowhere, the closest Golden Arches is 30 miles away, and while I do get a craving for those tasty nuggets of unknown chicken parts (with sweet and sour sauce....oh yes!) it's not strong enough to make me drive 30 miles....I have some morals after all! :D
But who needs fast food when I can make the infamous 2 beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun in the comfort of my own home?
Low and behold the glory of the Country Big Mac:
2 Boca Burgers with 2% Velveeta (that is still kind of nasty in retrospect), all the veggies as prescribed above with a "special sauce" consisting of fat free Kraft 1000 Island Dressing (and you guys know I'm not usually into the fat free or lite stuff, but this is one dressing that I actually like better as Fat Free....go figure). Plus some baked beans and BBQ chips.
Plus I enjoy the fact that my "local" fast food joint serves a good brew too....Amberbock with lime! (don't knock the dark beer with a lime til you try it, folks)Is this the healthiest meal ever? No, I'm not delusional....but it beats back my fast food cravings and next time round I'm thinking straight up veggie burgers, no cheese and whole wheat buns (we used the funky "whitewheat" this time which is some miracle of science even I can't figure out.). Who is with me?! Nobody? Ok, that's fair, this is my own sick problem....but you know me, I love to share all my nasty little habits...what do you want to hear about next? Hangnail obsessions? Toenail picking? Eating after my dog licks my fingers? haha....I think I may have just succeeded in scaring off all 9 of my subscribers. But in case any of you are still with me check out a healthy version of the Egg McMuffin:
Scrambled egg on a Toasted English Muffin (again, I prefer this to be wheat, but my Dad has been doing most of the shopping lately....) with ketchup and provolone cheese. I'm not the biggest fan of Canadian Bacon so I don't even miss it, but if you really like meat on your breakfast sandwich CB is a very lean meat, so you can eat it "guilt free" too. Enjoy!
Love to all,

That's a great alternative to the goo you could have been served! I make breakfast sandwiches almost every morning and they taste so much better to me than what I think mystery food would taste like!
