Terrific Teachers!

Hi all,

So most of you realize from my ramblings that I'm a high school science teacher. By some strange and certainly ironic twists of fate all of my college roomies (and besties!) have all ended up in the education profession, but sadly we are all in different parts of the state....I have lucked out into becoming part of a new trio of teacher though, at my place of employment, which I refer to as "your local friendly high school" on the blog, simply for privacy purposes. Basically, we are the young, fun and fabulous teachers...and we have instituted Terrific Tuesdays, or rather a night out once a week to relax and celebrate the joys (and frustrations) of being young, fun and fabulous teachers! haha.

So, while we are off gallivanting tonight, (it is Tuesday already, folks!) I thought I would entertian you with some pictures from Homecoming week....yes, we dressed up, and much more than the kids, I might add. Some people just never grow up and I strive to be one of those individuals! Enjoy!

Monday was Wacky Tacky Day. As Jenny and I are the entire high school Science Department we went the route of "nerds"....

You can't see my awesome pocket protector in this picture, but trust me it was a hit. I think the funniest thing is Elena had a surprise parent teacher conference that morning. Nothing says I'm here for your child's education like Stitch ears and Marti Gra beads! :D

Tuesday was Splash of Color Day.

I think we hit the mark. My turn for a parent teacher conference. Did I take off the pink gloves? Heck no!

Wednesday was Blast from the past day.

I'm with some students here, so please respect the blurred out faces....I was a hippie and wish I had a full length to share with you so you could see my awesome skirt and boots, but trust me, it was good stuff.

Thursday was Character Day.

I choose Dorothy, obviously...complete with TiTi the Tiger (we are the Tigers, fyi), Elena was a lovely Princess!

Friday was spirit day and in all the chaos of skits, themed doorways and parades I didn't get any pictures of myself....just my normal staff shirt, plus tiger ears, tail and furry bow tie that may or may not be an "instant costume" I picked up in the children's Halloween section at Walmart. Just saying.....

Hope you have enjoyed some of our shenanigans. I love my job (most of the time) and playing around like the big kid I am is what keeps me sane at it.

Love to all,
~The "crazy" teacher, Jess

Love it!

You're better than me! I forgot one of our days (Wednesday - Clash Day) and I dressed normally (it was an early morning) or I thought I dressed normally.

I got to my first class, and the kids were like, "Mrs. Casey, did you think today was Psychedelic Day? That's tomorrow."

Me: "Um, no, I just like this shirt."

Students: "OH. Ooops."

Apparently, my affinity for flowy, hippie tops has come to bite me in the ass.
