Mmmmmmmantra.....I needed a mantra!

A running mantra that is!

So, first I stole borrowed two favorites from Caitlin

1- "You can do anything for a minute."
Why? Um, because it's damn true. Thanks.

2- "It's ok to feel uncomfortable."
Why? Long story short, I was born with heart problems so I had to "take it easy" as a kid all the time and any time I "felt something" I had to stop....which meant I never passed that damn Presidential Fitness Test as a kid in school- couldn't run the mile in less than 16 minutes-go figure! So, now that I'm "fixed" and all (if you are interested in the whole story, email me: mahoney.j8 at gmail dot com) I still had that "oh no, I feel something, I'd better stop" mentality. Now I remind myself, it's ok. Because, it is ok to feel something, and I'm so glad of that!

Then I came up with one of my own!

3- "Stay ahead of the golf cart!"
Why? Oh, because I'm leg one of the Inaugural Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Relay on October 2nd, 2010! and as long as I can maintain a speed of faster than a 16 minute mile for my 4.8 mile portion, then I won't get picked up by the golf cart-hooray! (if you get picked up you are disqualified-boo.)

Oh and good news: Even in my training walk/runs I am managing a 15 minute mile- yay!

Love to all,
~the "did I really sign up for a half marathon relay as my first ever race?" gal, Jess

I love this! You'd be surprised how many people share the golf cart mantra. Mine was always reminding myself: This is not a physical challenge, this is a MENTAL challenge!

Very proud of you. xo
